Short version: Pelorus is a planning aid, not a navigation system. Don’t replace your charts, your eyes, or your judgment with our output. Use it to think faster.
What Pelorus is
A daily passage planner for cruisers. We pull live data (tides, weather, bridges, locks, gauges) and turn it into a written plan for tomorrow’s run. The demo lets you try this on a curated set of Great Loop waypoints. Free during the demo phase.
What Pelorus isn’t
- Not a chartplotter. The lines on our maps are stylized for orientation. Use real NOAA charts (or your chartplotter) for navigation.
- Not a real-time advisory service. Data is best-effort; sources can be stale or wrong. Always verify with the official source (NOAA, USACE) before relying on a bridge clearance, lock schedule, or weather call.
- Not a substitute for seamanship. You are the captain. We’re a tool.
Use it responsibly
- Don’t scrape the site or hammer the API.
- Don’t use Pelorus output to assert facts to third parties without verifying them.
- Tell us if something is wrong — we want to fix it.
No warranty
Pelorus is provided AS-IS. We don’t promise the data is correct, timely, or complete. We are not liable for decisions you make based on Pelorus output, including navigational decisions, fuel planning, weather calls, or anything else. Your judgment, your boat, your responsibility.
